Turmoil during forceful deportation

On 27th June, three men were forcefully deported from Lesvos to Turkey. An activist witnessed how one person tried to resist his deportation but was forced on the ferry. The witness reports:

“I heard a Frontex officer shouting inside the police van with the deportees and the van was shaking. More Frontex officers were entering the bus one by one and shouted, and one of them brought handcuffs inside. Outside they prepared a blanket and it looked as if they wanted to use it for the person. It took about 20 minutes and finally they came out and brought all three men on the ferry.”

Deportations are always violent. The physical violence and oppression become obvious, once a person tries to resist the deportation and the resistance is forcibly broken such as on Thursday.
